Annual and Quarterly Fire Safety Audits & Fire Risk Assessments

Simpli’s fire safety consultants will attend the site and conduct a review of the Fire Safety Equipment and Systems for compliance against AS1851.

In many of the reviews the fire protection consultants have conducted there have been deficiencies in the Equipment & System fire safety audits being performed by the service providers. These fire safety tests are being paid for by the client and Simpli have identified discrepancies in what has actually been done. 

Example 1

In October 2019 a fire risk assessment audit on a Fire Hydrant System found that isolation valves that had not been tested since they were installed in 2008.

Example 2

In November 2019, Simpli’s fire safety risk assessment audit identified multiple Fire Hose Reels stamped that they were tested in October 2019, but the evidence pointed to these being simply stamped and no work being performed.

Example 3

Simpli’s fire protection consultants discovered Fire Safety Equipment being tested out of frequency resulting in reduced service. Instead of 12 monthly tests and 1 annual test being completed only 10 monthly tests and 1 annual test were being completed on a Fire Detection and Alarm System.

The above items need to be maintained in accordance with the relevant Acts and Regulations for fire safety compliance, failure to do so will result in the prosecution of the facility owner not the Service Provider.

As the owner / manager of the facility there is a Duty of Care to protect Occupants, Customers and Employees against fires.
